Full Landscape Design

Objective: Overall landscaping for new build that also needed an additional parking space. Create backyard patio space with private hot tub space and access from driveway to mother-in-law suite and main home covered patio. Additional patio space with fire pit to overlook views on the southern side of the property. Screening from neighboring residences, roads and public trail.
Challenges: Site conditions drastically changed from initial design. Drainage needs became a design consideration and opened an opportunity to create an interesting path with bridge and stairs. Another challenge was to create privacy screening from local trails along property the line and roads while maintaining views of surrounding mountains.
Resolutions: Addressing drainage needs with undulating cobble swale and native shrub planting to soften stones. For screening, combination of deciduous and evergreen plants in strategic locations to block views from trails and roads but keep main mountain views open from patio and specific window locations. We also used some boulders to deter and define areas for none access.
