Backyard Patio with Improved Drainage

Objective: Create expanded patio to existing patio space without seam and make space for hot tub relocation. Create fire pit with seating space. Address drainage along berm and back of patio space/slope from residence. Create path from main bedroom to backyard patio (phase2).
Challenges: Access within tight property line, concern of existing slope and drop offs near home, mass drainage and wet areas at back of property and create seamless patio addition.
Resolution: For access, we removed and then planted new trees and shrubs in their place at the end of the project. We also removed and replaced existing granite boulder walls to allow for machine access during backyard construction. For the seamless patio addition, removed portions of the existing patio to blend in the new patio space. To resolve main drainage issue, created a sloped and gently undulating cobble swale and created a gravel 'patio' space as a soft water capture that doubles as corn hole or other outdoor games space.
