Informal Patio and Path Addition
Project type
Landscape Design and Install
Objective: This has been a multi-phased, multi- year long landscape project that started with a large water feature and entry landscaping. This plan was a third phase to create a pathway to a new patio space on the highest point of their property. And, address illegal access along ski route to deter trespassing within property lines.
Challenges: Working with the town and ski resort to screen and deter winter skiers from jumping ropes to traverse private property to parking lot. Create flat but rustic patio space at top of property with small wood burning fire pit while keeping as much as native lodge poles and pines as possible.
Resolution: After defining easement locations and agreeing on planting locations with the town and ski resort, we were able to relocate existing boulders to help define private property lines and plant outside of existing easement to deter winter access. Patio space was determined by building envelope and we addressed any slope with granite boulder supports.
